Patty Dick - District 2
I’m Patty Dick from the Cotton area. I grew up in Bunceton, MO, and graduated from Bunceton High School. After attending college at Warrensburg for a couple of years, I married Richard Dick, also from Cotton/Bunceton area, and we lived in Independence, MO, until we moved back to Cooper County in 1979 to a farm in the Clarks Fork area. Our three children graduated from Prairie Home High School. Richard passed away in 2005. I now live on his home place in Cotton.
After moving back to the area, Richard and I became active farmers. My son, Jason, and I continue with the crop ground. My daughters, Dana, Deanne, and I continue with the cattle operation.
I retired from USDA, Farm Service Agency, in 2007 after 41 years with the US Government. My career started with General Services Administration, Public Buildings Service, in the Kansas City area. Work experiences with this agency included field offices in the Kansas City area and then their regional office there. I was able to transfer back to a field office in Columbia, Mo, when we moved back to Cooper County. My responsibilities then included managing Government owned and leased space for the state of Missouri excluding the Kansas City and St. Louis areas. While in this position, our field office, was selected as the “Best Operated Field Office in the Nation”.
After I transferred to USDA, Farm Service Agency, I became the Administrative Officer for the State of Missouri for that agency. At one point, we had 114 county offices and approximately 600 employees. My office managed all administrative functions such as personnel, space management, budgeting, data processing, and workload management.
My volunteer work has included active roles in Clarks Fork Trinity Lutheran Church (currently secretary), 18 years as member/chairperson of the Prairie Home School Board, Chairperson of the Cooper County Health Department Board of Trustees since its inception in 2006, Board member/volunteer for the Prairie Home Fair, and filling the need for various organizations throughout the years.
My willingness to serve, along with my varied life experiences, would make me an effective board member for the Co-Mo Board. I am known as a capable, knowledgeable, fair, and reasonable person – all important characteristics for a board member.
