Austin Edward Teel - District 3
I have been a proud member of Co-Mo Electric Cooperative since 2009. My background in power generation and leadership stems from a 23-year career in the U.S. Navy, where I managed the engineering department consisting of propulsion and electric generation plants, machinist shop, firefighting and HVAC divisions.
Following my military service, I worked from 2011 to 2021 as a consultant and subject matter expert in power plants and refineries, advising on efficiency, reliability, and operational improvements.
Beyond my professional experience, I have been deeply involved in our local community, particularly through veterans’ organizations in Camden and Morgan counties. I am an active member of the Fleet Reserve Association Branch 32 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5923 in Camdenton. I also served as Commander of American Legion Post 624 in Sunrise Beach from 2022 to 2024, where I continue to lead the Honor Guard in providing military honors for fallen veterans.
My connection to Co-Mo goes beyond being a member—I have seen firsthand the cooperative’s dedication to our community. Co-Mo employees have gone above and beyond to support local veterans, from assisting at no charge with replacing the lighting in the American Legion parking lot using their trucks to showing compassion by delaying non-payment cutoffs for veterans until the Legion could help cover their bills. They have even stayed open late to ensure a Legion representative could make a payment and keep the lights on. These acts of service reflect the true spirit of Co-Mo, and I want to be a part of continuing that legacy.
I am running for a director position because I believe in Co-Mo’s mission and want to ensure it continues to serve our community with the same dedication and reliability it has demonstrated for the past 85 years. My priorities include:
-
Efficiency & Reliability: Ensuring Co-Mo remains financially responsible while maintaining high service standards.
-
Safety & Integrity: Protecting the well-being of both employees and members through responsible policies.
-
Education & Innovation: Expanding programs to help members reduce energy usage and costs while exploring new, cost-effective power generation technologies.
With my background in energy, leadership, and community service, I am committed to working for the best interests of Co-Mo members. I would be honored to earn your support.
