Rural Missouri magazine honored Co-Mo Connect Electric Cooperative, Tipton, as the electric cooperative with the best photo during a presentation of the magazine’s High Voltage Awards on Oct. 24.
The awards are designed to recognize the best member communications taking place at Missouri’s electric cooperatives said Rural Missouri Editor Sara Schafer. “Communications are extremely important for Missouri’s member-owned electric cooperatives,” she said. “Today electric co-ops are using all of the mediums available to reach members, including the local page sections of the print magazine and social media channels. It’s exciting to see the work going on today.”
Judges had this to say about Co-Mo Connect’s award-winning photo:
“Photos play one of the most important roles in Co-Mo’s local pages. They start this out with impactful photos on their local page covers every month. These grab members’ attention and pull them into the pages. The September 2024 cover photo was especially nice, showing an image of a lineman from a perspective you wouldn’t normally see. The photo has a lot going for it: nice light, a good look at the subject’s face and it captures a moment in time with added tension from him leaning away from the pole. It puts the viewer right at the top of the pole with the lineman.”
The photo was taken by Co-Mo Line Foreman Dan Alderson, and implemented by Co-Mo's Communication Department. The photo was displayed on social media and Rural Missouri Magazine. The photo features 2024 summer lineman intern Carter Prenger.
Rural Missouri is the statewide member magazine produced by the Association of Missouri Electric Cooperatives.
