District 1 Candidate
My name is David Sprigg, and I would like to serve as your board representative for the Co-Mo Electric Cooperative.
My background is a rural one. I grew up in central Missouri, near Boonville, and my family was involved in farming, livestock and agri-businesses.
After getting a business degree (management), my career path took me to east central Illinois and western Indiana in the financial service sector. Working primarily in rural banks, I spent 25 plus years in commercial and agricultural lending, also serving as a business development team leader and community bank president.
Working in banking gave me many opportunities to serve on local civic and community boards. I was involved in Chamber boards, Rotary clubs, church leadership, and both rural water and rural electric boards. Serving in the community has always been important
to me, and this was instilled in me by family members who demonstrated the same.
Serving for 12 years on the Enerstar board, a rural electric cooperative in Illinois, also taught me a great deal about the cooperative principles. Customers first, shareholder owned, reliable, affordable and a people first mentality are powerful examples of these principles.
In 2020, two big changes took place. First, a long planned early retirement (maybe semi-retired is more accurate), and second, after many years away, my wife Paula and I returned to the mid-Missouri area. Kids, grandkids, and family farm interests were all a powerful incentive and a part of our long term plans to do so. We purchased a rural property near Blackwater, just a few minutes from our Cooper and Saline County properties and have been super busy making this our new home.
In summary, I hope to use my financial experience and previous board roles to properly serve both the board and shareholder community. If chosen to be your representative, I promise to be engaged and supportive of both!
